Mad-4silver has added to the limited run 1oz silver bullion coin arena with another new nature-themed piece called Silver Star. It’s a sea-star, more commonly known in many places as a starfish. Found in all of the world’s oceans, these echinoderms can live a staggering 6,000m deep and come in shapes and colours sometimes quite stunning in appearance. A good subject for a coin then.
It’s a neat enough design, if a little busy. The starfish fills the face well and each space between the legs is filled with text over a ‘web-like’ background pattern. As we said, a little busy. The background has the same pattern in place with the Ian Rank Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II sitting at its centre. The inscribed issue details circumnavigate her image. Just the one format on offer and the mintage limit, if there is one, has yet to reveal itself to us (we’ve reached out).
